  4. Check the activity with the whole class. 
  5. (Optional): Ask learners to work in pairs again so one learner can talk about what they remember about Lisa, while the  other learner can talk about Boosty.

Aim of Activity

10 - 15 minutes

To provide learners with controlled practice of the use of adjectives from the video. 

Steps for Students

  1. Work in pairs or small groups. 
  2. Look at the pictures. 
  3. Guess the adjectives. 
  1. Put learners in pairs or small groups. 
  2. Share the task with the learners. 
  3. Ask the learners to look at seven pictures and decide which adjective from the animated video each shows. To reveal the answer, click the card. If the learners’ guess was correct, ask them to click the tick symbol (✅). If their guess was incorrect, click the X symbol (❌) before moving on to  the next question. 
  4. Ask learners to give you any other adjective they know from their previous studies. Write the adjectives on the board or the screen. 
  5. Ask learners to say sentences using the adjectives both from the video. Use a projector to show learners the task: ACTIVITY 2 

TIP!

  • To make this activity competitive, ask learners to work in small groups. Ask them to come up with as many sentences using the adjectives from the activity as they can in 3-5 minutes. Each group can get a point or a star for each correct sentence.  
  • Note that it is possible to switch templates using the same content by clicking one of the templates (e.g. Match up, Find the match) on the right of the screen. 
  • You may find it more appropriate to use various templates in order of difficulty to reinforce your learners’ knowledge.

Aim of Activity

5 - 10 minutes

To practise pronunciation by raising learners’ awareness of the rhythm and sentence stress in questions and get the learners ready for the following speaking activity in Activity 4. 

Steps for Students

Listen to and repeat the questions. Copy the rhythm.

  1. Play the recording for the learners to listen to and repeat. Ask the learners to copy the rhythm of the questions and sentence stress.
  2. Ask the learners to ask and answer the questions. 
  3. Check the activity with the whole class. 

 

TIP! 

  • The words stressed (which are usually longer and louder) can be highlighted on the board or screen as visual aid for the learners. (Underline the words or put a circle above the stressed words.

Steps for Students

  1. Work in pairs or small groups. 
  2. Click the link your teacher has got. 
  3. Put the words in the questions in the correct order. 
  4. Write the correct questions in your notebook. 
  5. Ask and answer the questions in pairs. 
  1. Put learners in pairs or small groups. 
  2. Share the task with the learners: ACTIVITY 4
  3. Ask the learners to reorder the words in the questions given and write them in their notebook. Ask the learners to take it in turns to ask and answer the questions.  
  4. Remind the learners of the use of sentence stress that they practised in Activity 3

  3. Student A: Choose one of your classmates, but don’t tell Student B. 
  4. Student B: Ask questions to find out who Student A has chosen. (Use the questions and answers to help you.) 
  5. Student B: Choose one of your classmates, but don’t tell Student A. 
  6. Student A: Ask questions to find out who Student B has chosen. 
  7. Tell your teacher what your partner said. 
  1. Put learners in pairs.

  • Before the speaking activity, demonstrate the task by thinking of a learner in class and asking pupils to ask you questions to find out who the person is. 
  • During the speaking activity, monitor learners and take notes of  common errors for error correction right after the activity or at the beginning of the next lesson. 
  • After the activity, the teacher can nominate some of the learners to share with the class what they have learnt about their partner. 
  • As a follow-up activity, learners can describe one of their classmates in writing as their homework for the rest of the class to guess who it is in the following lesson.
